F.L.A.S.H. stands for Frequency Location And Sound Hybrid. LeakTronics patented F.L.A.S.H Leak Locating System finds leaks from within lines and transmits a signal at the leak’s precise location. F.L.A.S.H. technology can be used to locate leaks, pipe separations or cracks in swimming pool and spa plumbing, HVAC, gas lines, water mains, sewers and a multitude of other applications. The F.L.A.S.H. is applicable to finding leaks in lines ranging from 1 to 60 inches in diameter and the F.L.A.S.H. System can also be used for underground line location.
No other equipment in the industry offers a more effective solution for precision sub-surface leak locating than LeakTronics F.L.A.S.H. Leak Locator. The F.L.A.S.H. also allows you to find multiple leaks in a line with a single pass. When you’ve identified where the first leak you hear is, use the receiver to find the F.L.A.S.H. Head and mark its location. Continue pulling the F.L.A.S.H. Head through the line and identify any other leaks or separations that might occur.
The F.L.A.S.H. Add-On is powered by the LT-1000 Amplifier, which comes standard in all LeakTronics complete kits.
F.L.A.S.H. Leak Location Applications
In Plumbing: Main to house, under house or under slab leaks, under driveways and parking lots
In Gas Lines, Central Vac Systems, Sewer or Septic Systems, Well Suction or Supply Side
In Swimming Pools: Skimmer Lines, Main Drain Lines, Return Lines, Cleaning Lines, In-Floor Systems
In Spas: Jets, Venturi Lines, Main Drain Lines, Skimmer Lines
Helpful tips on use:
Always keep wire lubed. Loosen the nut slightly and gently apply WD-40 to line before and after each use. This will maintain the wires ability to slide through the plug without resistance.
The F.L.A.S.H. Leak Locator is used by inserting the F.L.A.S.H. Head into the line in question. Using the pipe guide included in the kit and a shop vac (not included), guide the F.L.A.S.H. Head through the line. A push-rod may also be used to guide the F.L.A.S.H. Head through the line. Using the included pressure rig, put the line under slight pressure (6 pounds) and attach the F.L.A.S.H. cable to the LT-1000 Amplifier. Pull the line back slowly. The leak will be identified when you hear the “whooshing” sound. Stop pulling the line back and unplug the F.L.A.S.H. Mic from the LT-1000 Amplifier. Plug the F.L.A.S.H. Mic into the F.L.A.S.H. Driver and turn the driver on to “Pulse.” The F.L.A.S.H. Mic will emit a 512hz signal which can then be scanned with a receiver to know the precise location of the head. (Receiver available separately). The F.L.A.S.H. Line Locator is compatible with other 512hz receivers.
To use the F.L.A.S.H. Leak Location System to locate and mark underground lines, insert the F.L.A.S.H. Head into the line and pull completely through the line. Plug the F.L.A.S.H. cable into the F.L.A.S.H. Driver and turn the unit on. The F.L.A.S.H. signal can be located by scanning with a 512hz receiver. Mark the location of the F.L.A.S.H. Head and pull the cable back in 12 inch intervals. Continue pulling while marking at 12 inch intervals until entire line has been traced and marked.
For technicians that already use LeakTronics equipment, the F.L.A.S.H. Line Location Kit is compatible with the LT-1000 Amplifier. The F.L.A.S.H. add-on can be purchased to enhance your current kit.
